Kernow HR is supporting ICE Recumbent Trikes in their search for a Managing Director 

 

Managing Director - Falmouth, Cornwall

 

Salary:    £90,000 (DPE)
               Pension
               Company Car (Electric)
               EOT dividend

 

This is a rare opportunity to lead an exciting new chapter in ICE Trikes journey, as they transfer to becoming an Employee Owned Trust (EOT) organisation, as the Managing Director in a successful and well-established innovative business in Cornwall.

The new Managing Director will work with a newly appointed Trust Board, with a remit to manage the day to day business, and work with the existing team to continually evolve and develop our service and products.

ICE Trikes is a manufacturer of the world’s largest range of recumbent trikes, offering new product ranges that go from entry level to extreme adventure. ICE trikes have played their part in setting world records, cycling to the South Pole, touring the globe in supreme comfort, and winning countless races as well as enabling people to enjoy their daily commute or a relaxed trip to the shops.

The business turns over circa. £5 million and employs 35 people across the factory, distribution, and service centre.  They are in a strong position in Cornwall, with a steady growth trajectory but there is excellent potential to extend the client base and geographic reach with the continued development of their products.  They have a highly committed senior management team who will support the new Managing Director, ensuring that day-to-day operations run smoothly.
 

Your Role

As Managing Director, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the business, driving the culture and passion for our products.

 

Key areas of responsibility are:

 

  • Leadership that motivates the team and day to day management that promotes a productive, safe, inclusive, and supportive workplace.

 

  • Support and maintain agreed sales and margin targets for the company.

 

  • Implementation of a marketing strategy that promotes the organisation’s full range of services to its target clients and supports the sales drive.

 

  • Lead implementation of processes/systems to support Global Trade and Retail Management policies, ensuring efficient purchasing and distribution strategies.

 

  • Monitoring performance trends in sales, margin, manufacturing and then acting on this analysis to mitigate emerging risks and innovating to capture emerging opportunities.

 

  • Implementation of Lean Manufacturing goals and strategies for improving the operations and processes within the organisation.

 

Your Profile

You will have operated at Managing Director or Senior Manager level with exposure to a full range of experiences across a global retail market.  As a result, you can demonstrate a track record of:

 

  • Being a self-starter with hunger to achieve and innovate, with a positive can-do attitude and a passion for the product.

 

  • Experience in employing Lean methodologies and tools in order to accomplish business objectives.

 

  • Charisma and drive that generates trust and confidence in others and an ability to lead and manage teams in an inclusive way.

The role will be predominantly based in Falmouth with occasional hybrid work and global travel.
